We Need Translators Options

If you speak another language, please consider assisting with the translation of the 17's Buddies database language files. The language files are simple text files which allow you to display our site in whatever language you want.

Which languages are there language files for?

Which language files still need to be translated?

• Spanish
• Italian
• Chinese
• Russian
• Brazilian/Portuguese

But we can add more....if you ask for them and translate language pack


How much time will it take?

It is not a huge task. It should take you an afternoon or less to complete if you have a good knowledge of the source language you use.

What do I need to do?

The file you will download contains all the language files that you will have to translate. Download and unzip it to your hard disk drive. We give you two links: one for the french source files (fr.zip), and the other one for the english source files (en.zip). Preferably work form the “fr_” files as these are the originals.

The files are just text files with 'key => value' format. You 'just' have to translate the value.

For special chars to display correctly, you have to save them in UTF-8, without BOM format.

'Without BOM' is important. UTF-8 is not sufficient therefore in order to display special chars.

Notepad windows may not be suitable so use Notepad++ (free) to edit and save files. Before saving, select Format -> Convert to UTF-8 (without BOM) and make sure that Format -> Encode in UTF-8 (without BOM) is selected.

Tips & Tricks:

• Be carefull with single quotes (') and double quotes (") in values fields: never insert a double quote in a value field surrounded by double quotes and vice versa,
• Don't change keys names,
• Don't change specials values as %s, {0}, bbcode fields [], parsed fields {}, etc..,
• Be carefull with 'time_format' and 'date_format' keys: They must correspond to those listed here.
• If you have a doubt for a value translation, look at the key name: perhaps it will help you finding a translation.

Save the files when done under a new name using the name of the language. E.g. sp_xxxx, ru_xxxxx...

If you do read and write one of the languages mentioned above please give this careful consideration. We cannot do this without your help.

After you make a full language pack please post it as a zip file attachment on the Message Board as this board does support it.


How Do I get the files to translate?

And then?

After we have installed your language pack on the site, you just have to select your language in the field box at the top right of each of your pages. That's it.

Je ne maitrise pas complètement la langue, mais je vais essayer de faire le pack italien.

Par contre, il faut que j'upload les toutes dernières versions des fichiers de langue parce que j'ai du y faire des modifs depuis l'autre jour

Attend que je mette les bons fichiers et j'édite pour te dire quand c'est ok ...

Oki ça marche

Ce n'est pas ma langue maternel, mais je le parle un peu quand même (Vive la famille ), donc ce n'est pas impossible que je fasse 2-3 erreurs de grammaire ou de traduction. Mais le tout sera compréhensible, je pense que c'est le principal

Bah j'espère quand même que t'y es pas depuis le mois d'aout dernier

Mais non je m'en suis aperçu que aujourd'hui.
Par contre certains paramètres je n'arrive pas à les éditer correctement vis-à-vis des variables, style:

'no_news' => "Nessun soggetto n'a été trouvé. C'est soit parce qu'il n'y a pas de sujet dans ce forum, soit que les sujets sont plus anciens que la date de sélection courante.",

J'ecris quoi la?

P.S. Par exemple je pense le mot sélection la sélection mais je voudrais une confirmation, car il y en a pas mal de ces sujets.

Ce sont les accents qui sont remplacés par leurs équivalents HTML:

é => é
à => à
etc...

Si tu as des caractère accentués où spéciaux, il est impératif de les remplacer par ces équivalents.

Edit: En fait, je crois qu'après coup j'ai modifié mon code pour ne pas avoir à coder ces caractères donc normallement, tu n'est pas obligé de le faire. Ca doit être un vieux reste que je n'avais pas corrigé
